Opportunity

We are seeking a motivated and hands-on Youth Apprentice to join our Prototyping team. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in a dynamic engineering environment, supporting the development of prototypes and first of its kind components. The apprentice will work closely with experienced technicians and contribute to real-world projects using a variety of tools and techniques. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Operate manual machining equipment including lathes, mills, drill press and bandsaws 
• Safely use welders, table saws, and construction hand tools 
• Assist in the fabrication and assembly of prototype parts 
• Apply problem-solving skills to support design and build challenges 
• Collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment 
• Use measuring tools such as tape measures, micrometers, calipers, dial indicators and height gauges 
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, following safety protocols 
• Participate in continuous learning and skill development under mentorship 
• Opportunity to expand skillset into more advanced tools  
• After mastering core fundamentals, there is opportunity to operate CNC mills and lathes, gaining hands-on experience with advanced machining technologies and digital manufacturing 

Skills/Requirements

• High school students with interest in engineering, manufacturing, or skilled trades 
• Basic understanding of mechanical systems and hand tools 
• Strong attention to detail, a can-do attitude, and willingness to learn 
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently when needed 
• Able to communicate ideas and teamwork skills
