Job DescriptionNursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years OR RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A position is available for a dedicated Operating Room Registered Nurse in the scenic Vail, Colorado area. This travel opportunity offers a 13-week assignment with a day shift schedule of three 12-hour shifts per week, guaranteeing at least 32 hours. The ideal candidate will possess specialized skills in surgical nursing and contribute to maintaining high standards of patient care while assisting surgical teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply expert knowledge of sterile and aseptic techniques, anatomy, and surgical procedures in compliance with AORN standards.
- Prepare, maintain, and monitor sterile fields, including packaging integrity, proper processing, and equipment safety.
- Supervise and ensure adherence to protocols that maximize patient safety throughout surgical procedures.
- Assist in patient transport, operating room turnovers, and preparation to support surgical workflow.
- Engage effectively in communication with the perioperative team, including participation in Time Out processes like Briefings and Debriefings.
- Stay current with new technologies, instrumentation, and professional standards while modeling Just Culture principles.
- Perform cleaning and preparation of surgical instruments for sterilization.
- Complete other duties as assigned with full HIPAA compliance.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Licensed as a Surgical Technologist in Colorado.
- Completion of a Certified Surgical Technologist program or equivalent.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the American Heart Association.
- Computer proficiency to complete online trainings and documentation.
- Strong command of English for verbal and written communication.
- Ability to handle physical demands, including standing (50%), walking (20%), and lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally.
