Job DescriptionCertified Surgical Technologist (CST) Certification and minimum 2+ years Surgical Tech / Operating Room Tech experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
An opportunity is available for an experienced nurse skilled in ORT nursing to support orthopedic surgical services at a respected womens hospital in the McKeesport, PA area. This travel role offers a dynamic schedule designed around elective procedures and call coverage, providing a rewarding environment to utilize and expand your surgical nursing expertise.
Schedule and Hours: Daylight shifts rotating weekly: 5:30 AM 2:00 PM, 6:30 AM 3:00 PM, and 7:30 AM end of cases (including elective surgeries and add-ons) On-call weekend coverage: 6:00 AM 6:00 PM, with 2 weekends required every 6 weeks Weekend call is focused on coverage only; no elective surgeries are scheduled on weekends Extended hours on the 7:30 AM shift may be necessary to complete add-on cases, typically not exceeding 2 hours past scheduled time
Key Responsibilities: Provide high-quality perioperative nursing care in a dedicated orthopedic OR setting Collaborate effectively with a small, specialized team including 3 RNs and 3 scrub techs covering two orthopedic OR suites Adapt to fluctuating surgical schedules, prioritizing patient safety and procedural efficiency Manage patient care before, during, and after surgical interventions with attention to detail and precision
Desired Qualifications: Valid nursing licensure with experience in operative orthopedic nursing (ORT) Ability to work flexible daylight shifts and accept weekend call rotation Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively within a compact clinical team Strong communication and critical thinking skills for managing add-on cases and extended hours
