An opportunity exists for a skilled Registered Nurse specializing in Operating Room (OR) care to support surgical teams in a dynamic perioperative environment. This travel assignment is located in a beautiful mountain town known for its outdoor recreation and scenic views, lasting approximately 13 weeks with a preferred start in May.

Position Details

  • Location: Vail, CO
  • Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: Days
  • Schedule: 3x12-hour shifts
  • Guaranteed Hours: 32 per week

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert perioperative nursing care by maintaining a sterile surgical field and assisting the surgical team with instrumentation.
  • Adhere strictly to AORN standards and institutional policies to promote patient safety and high-quality care.
  • Prepare and monitor sterile supplies and instruments, ensuring packaging integrity and sterility.
  • Actively participate in surgical briefings, time-outs, and debriefings to facilitate communication and patient safety.
  • Assist with patient transport, room turnovers, and equipment sterilization processes.
  • Serve as a role model for professional behavior, maintaining currency in technological advances and procedural updates.
  • Support a culture of safety and compliance with HIPAA and Just Culture principles.

Qualifications

  • Current RN license with OR nursing experience preferred.
  • Completion of Certified Surgical Technologist program or Licensed Surgical Technologist in Colorado is required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the American Heart Association.
  • Ability to demonstrate sterile/aseptic technique and knowledge of human anatomy and surgical procedures.
  • Effective communication skills and teamwork mindset.
  • Computer proficiency for online training and documentation.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand approximately 50% of the workday, walk 20%, and perform required lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally.
  • Capable of working with a wide age range of patients from neonatal to geriatric.
