Job DescriptionNursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years OR RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
This opportunity is for an experienced RN with expertise in Operating Room nursing, located in Coraopolis, PA. The position involves travel assignments to support a specialized surgical team focused on orthopedic procedures.
Schedule:
- Daylight shifts with a rotating weekly schedule:
5:30 AM 2:00 PM
6:30 AM 3:00 PM
7:30 AM finish (includes elective cases and add-ons) - Weekend on-call coverage: 6:00 AM 6:00 PM (2 weekends required in a 6-week schedule)
- Weekend call involves no elective cases, only call coverage (low volume expected)
The team comprises six members (3 RNs and 3 surgical techs) covering two orthopedic ORs five days a week. The 7:30 AM shift extends as needed to complete elective surgeries and any additional cases (typically until 4:00 PM 4:30 PM, occasionally up to 1-2 hours beyond scheduled end time). This extended coverage is essential and must be agreeable to candidates.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide perioperative nursing care in the orthopedic operating room
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical team members
- Maintain a safe, sterile environment throughout procedures
- Prioritize patient safety and comfort during all phases of surgery
- Manage add-on cases efficiently, including staying past scheduled hours as necessary
