Construction Superintendent | Charleston, SC

Construction Superintendent Requirements & Qualifications


  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a superintendent overseeing mid-sized construction projects
  • At least 4 years of hands-on construction or trade experience
  • Experience managing field personnel, schedules, subcontractors, safety, quality, and budgets
  • CPR, First Aid, OSHA 30-hour, EM-385, and STS certifications (training available if needed)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer use
  • Must pass drug screening and criminal background check (including Department of Defense screening for base access)
  • Valid work authorization in the United States


Construction Superintendent Preferred Background & Skills


  • Degree or additional coursework in construction management, engineering, or related field
  • Background in government, military, or large commercial construction, especially design-build projects
  • Familiarity with Primavera P3/P6, Viewpoint, BIM, or Revit
  • LEED Green Associate (GA) or Accredited Professional (AP) credentials
  • Bilingual Spanish/English skills


Construction Superintendent Day-to-Day Responsibilities


  • Oversee all daily construction activities on-site, ensuring project goals and timelines are met
  • Lead safety initiatives and enforce compliance with regulations and standards
  • Manage and coordinate field personnel, subcontractors, suppliers, and project schedules
  • Maintain high-quality standards across all phases of construction
  • Facilitate effective communication with project teams, clients, and stakeholders
  • Monitor project progress, budget adherence, and document performance per contract requirements
