Construction Superintendent Requirements & Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a superintendent overseeing mid-sized construction projects
- At least 4 years of hands-on construction or trade experience
- Experience managing field personnel, schedules, subcontractors, safety, quality, and budgets
- CPR, First Aid, OSHA 30-hour, EM-385, and STS certifications (training available if needed)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer use
- Must pass drug screening and criminal background check (including Department of Defense screening for base access)
- Valid work authorization in the United States
Construction Superintendent Preferred Background & Skills
- Degree or additional coursework in construction management, engineering, or related field
- Background in government, military, or large commercial construction, especially design-build projects
- Familiarity with Primavera P3/P6, Viewpoint, BIM, or Revit
- LEED Green Associate (GA) or Accredited Professional (AP) credentials
- Bilingual Spanish/English skills
Construction Superintendent Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Oversee all daily construction activities on-site, ensuring project goals and timelines are met
- Lead safety initiatives and enforce compliance with regulations and standards
- Manage and coordinate field personnel, subcontractors, suppliers, and project schedules
- Maintain high-quality standards across all phases of construction
- Facilitate effective communication with project teams, clients, and stakeholders
- Monitor project progress, budget adherence, and document performance per contract requirements
