Education: 2 Year / Associate Degree, preferred. Graduate of ARRT-approved Radiography or Sonography Program; or CAAHEP-recognized Sonography Program, required.
Experience: Minimum of one year of OB experience, preferred.
Licensure/Certification/Registration (required): RDMS, OB
Additional Skills/Requirements (required):
- Must have current BLS certification upon hire and maintain throughout employment as required by department
- Must maintain ARDMS certification
- Excellent communication skills required
- Working knowledge of various ultrasound devices
- Must have ability to independently obtain high quality images needed to assist MFM physician with diagnosis
- Perform high-level sterilization according to Clinical Compliance standards following each exam
- Ability to successfully complete departmental and organizational skills validation and competencies as required
Additional Skills/Requirements (preferred):
- Able to perform independently to obtain high quality images and advanced Doppler techniques
- Able to assist MFM physician with complex procedures
- Ability to put patient at ease during ultrasound(s) and procedure(s)
- Reconciles patient's medical and prenatal history, current medications, medication allergies etc.
- Demonstrate willingness to be flexible as needed to accomplish departmental needs and goals
What You'll Do:
- Work closely with Maternal-Fetal Medicine physicians to provide high-quality diagnostic ultrasound imaging and detailed fetal assessments for high-risk obstetric patients
- Independently perform OB/GYN and high-risk ultrasound studies using appropriate imaging and Doppler techniques
- Assist physicians with ultrasound guidance during procedures, including amniocentesis, CVS, and other fetal interventions
- Review images for quality and diagnostic value and repeat studies as needed
- Accurately document patient history, medications, allergies, consents, imaging results, and procedural information in the EMR
- Prepare exam rooms, replenish supplies, disinfect equipment, and sterilize probes in accordance with clinical compliance standards
- Explain procedures clearly, provide compassionate support, and keep patients informed throughout the visit
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and fellow sonographers to support safe, efficient, and coordinated care
- Participate in team meetings and quality improvement efforts while modeling professionalism, adaptability, and organizational values
