Job Description

Shipping Clerk

Provide clerical support for the Shipping Department including but not limited to scheduling of outgoing trucks, bill of lading for all shipments, processing of UPS and FedEx and data entry.

Essential Functions:

  • Received Hazardous Materials Transportation Certification
  • Willing to receive Hazardous Materials Air Shipper Certification, and Hazardous Materials Marine Shipping Certification
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communication in a manner that promotes respect and teamwork between coworkers, customers, vendors, supervisor and management
  • Schedule outgoing shipments with transportation companies and customers
  • Prepare shipping documents for outbound shipments (e.g. bill of ladings)
  • Collection and data entry of shipments and move sheets in timely manner
  • Data entry of shipments in timely manner for inventory update and invoicing
  • Establish and maintain filling system and maintain shipping log
  • Ability to use customer computer systems to enter shipments and fax/email
  • Generate shipping labels and bar code labels for shipments as required by customer
  • Complete customer and internal requests, including shipment verification
  • Process all UPS and FedEx shipments and insure necessary requirements and paperwork is processed
  • Analyze and assist in updating of standard work processes related to shipping
  • Work with customers/customer service on necessary changes in shipments
  • Communicate gaps in process with Customer Service group to insure timely shipments
  • Work with accounting on verification for invoicing issues as necessary
  • Verify inventory accuracy of customer systems with ATI inventory at a minimum of monthly
  • Ability to complete inventory audit and work with necessary team members internally and externally to have inventory corrections made as necessary
  • Maintain packing supplies are maintained and ordered as needed (e.g. packing slips, bill of ladings, envelopes, etc.)
  • Process documentation needed for pick pack (e.g. orders, address labels, packing slip information required by each customer, bill of ladings, UPS/FedEx labels, etc.)
  • Good attendance record-less than 3 absences
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as data entry
  • The worker in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets and office machinery
  • The worker constantly operates a computer and other office machinery such as calculator, copy machine, and fax
  • Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers, accurately, loudly or quickly
  • Visual/hearing ability sufficient to quickly analyze and comprehend written and verbal communication on all business documents
  • Repetitive motion such as substantial movements (motions) of the wrist, hands and/or fingers
  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity with or without assistance such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, and viewing a computer terminal
  • Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly
  • Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make fine discriminations in sound
  • The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes
  • The worker is subject to noise: There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level

Education:

Pass the ATI Basic Math Test with a 90% or greater score and Combined Basis Skills Test with a 70% or greater score

Experience:

Excellent typing ability with 10-key proficiency

Additional Qualifications:

  • Possess good understanding of warehouse methodology
  • Must be able to pass the forklift test with a 70% or greater score (If not passed the first time, it can be re-taken in 6 months)
  • Computer literate or able to train on programs needed to perform job
  • Outstanding telephone and people skills
