Degree in Physical Therapy, active Physical Therapist license and 1+ year of Physical Therapy experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

This contract opportunity in Irwin, PA, offers a Physical Therapist position within a specialized educational setting serving students with visual impairments. The role focuses on providing related services to students aged 3-22 and consulting with adult clients as needed. This position requires expertise in school-based physical therapy and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and assess student development, gross motor function, and orthopedic considerations related to school activities.
  • Determine the need for adaptive equipment, manage communication with parents and staff, oversee equipment fabrication, purchase, maintenance, and modifications.
  • Develop and implement individualized physical therapy treatment plans, including aquatic therapy.
  • Document PT evaluations, treatments, and educational reports such as IEPs and progress notes.
  • Collaborate with educational teams to ensure best practices in student programming and progress monitoring.
  • Provide consultation and training to families, classroom, and residential staff on therapeutic activities and positioning.
  • Supervise physical therapist assistants, aides, and student therapists in accordance with state regulations.
  • Participate in team meetings, staffing, clinic appointments, and in-service trainings.
  • Consult with medical personnel regarding therapy prescriptions and recommendations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

  • Experience in school-based physical therapy, especially working with children and young adults with visual impairments.
  • Ability to assess and provide adaptive equipment solutions.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with pediatric PT treatment planning, including aquatic therapy.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in an educational environment.
  • Licensed Physical Therapist with adherence to Pennsylvania state regulations.
