The Registered Nurse utilizes the Mercy Nursing Conceptual Framework and nursing process to provide safe, high-quality patient care. The RN maintains professional accountability for assigned patients, coordinates care with interdisciplinary teams and upholds patient rights and confidentiality.

Position Details:

Education:

Required:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (associate degree, Diploma, or Bachelor of Science in Nursing)

Preferred:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Licensure

Required:

  • Current Registered Nurse license in the hiring state and/or compact licensure where nursing duties are performed

  • Must meet all applicable state Board of Nursing requirements

  • RN is personally responsible for maintaining active licensure

Preferred:

  • Previous clinical experience related to the hiring unit

Certifications

Required:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire

Unit-Specific / May Be Required:

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)

  • Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC)

  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)

  • Certified Pediatric/Hematology/Oncology Nurse (CPHON)

  • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN)

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

  • Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition, and Stabilization (PEARS)

  • S.T.A.B.L.E. (Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood Pressure, Lab Work, Emotional Support)

  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM)

  • Other unit-specific certifications as required within departmental timeframes

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to push, pull, and/or lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during assigned shifts

  • Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, squat, and perform repetitive movements to complete job duties
