Restaurant General Manager Requirements and Qualifications

  • 5+ years of General Manager or senior hospitality leadership experience in high-volume environments
  • Proven ability to oversee FOH and BOH operations while leading large teams and multiple revenue streams
  • Strong background in training, team development, and creating service-focused cultures
  • Experience managing P&L performance, labor, prime cost, and operational systems
  • Ability to build structure through SOPs, training programs, and operational consistency
  • Strong event planning and organizational skills with the ability to coordinate initiatives well in advance
  • Hands-on leadership style with strong floor presence and guest engagement

Restaurant General Manager Preferred Background and Skills

  • Experience in destination-driven hospitality concepts, resorts, country clubs, entertainment dining, or multi-outlet operations
  • Track record of helping scale and evolve growing restaurant or hospitality brands
  • Ability to collaborate closely with ownership and marketing teams on events and guest engagement strategies
  • Strong hospitality mindset with the ability to educate teams on brand standards and guest experience expectations
