Location: UCHealth UCHlth Memorial Hospital North, US:CO:Colorado Springs

Department: MHN Central Utilities Plant

Work Schedule: Full Time, 80.00 hours per pay period (2 weeks)

Shift: Days

Pay: $27.61 - $41.41 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience

This position is an onsite role and does not offer a hybrid or remote option

Summary:
Operates and maintains a safe, efficient and reliable hospital Power Plant. Provides supportive technical and administrative expertise.

Responsibilities:
Operates and maintains boilers. Monitors appropriate meters and gauges for safe operation. Starts, stops or switches over boilers. Reports and logs any major repair needs and unsafe conditions. Monitors and logs gas and fuel oil levels. Monitors the operation of all other boiler room equipment. Follows and performs preventative maintenance schedules. Prepares boilers and related equipment for state and insurance inspections.

Operates and maintains emergency generators. Monitors and logs information from appropriate meters and gauges, including diesel fuel levels, for safe operation. Logs and reports all starts and major repair needs and unsafe conditions. Follows and performs preventative maintenance schedules.

Operates and maintains chillers. Monitors meters and gauges for safe operation. Logs information. Starts, stops and switches over chillers. Reports and logs any major repair needs and unsafe conditions. Follows and performs preventative maintenance schedules. Monitors cooling tower operation.

Monitors natural gas, liquid oxygen tanks and associated alarm panels.

Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.

Requirements:
  • Stationary Engineer
  • Power Plant Operator
  • High School diploma or GED. In-service and basic power plant training.
  • Stationary Engineer Certification from local City and County. Universal EPA Certification. Relevant certification as determined at position level.
  • 4 years of Stationary Engineering work with 3 years operating high-pressure boilers. 3 years experience as a water operator.
