Lowbed Driver

Midland Asphalt Materials Inc., a subsidiary of Barrett Industries Corporation, delivers advanced pavement preservation solutions to customers across New York State. We are seeking experienced Class A Lowbed Drivers to join our team for the upcoming season. This is a seasonal, full-time opportunity running primarily from May through September/October, offering 4060 hours per week. Drivers receive additional overtime after 8 hours per day on top of weekly overtime after 40 hours. The pay for this position is $29.00$34.00 per hour. Shop time is paid at $20.00-$24.50 per hour. Although the role is seasonal, your benefits remain active year-round, ensuring continuous coverage even during the off-season. You may also be eligible for unemployment benefits during the winter months, providing additional financial support until the next season begins. There is an opportunity to participate in a winter work rotation, which is assigned by seniority and offers potential for continued work beyond the core season.

Main Responsibilities

  • Haul equipment (mostly over width) and materials to various job sites throughout New York State
  • Perform daily pre and post trip inspections of assigned vehicle: This requires climbing up, on and over unit to verify everything is in proper working order.
  • Haul emulsions and hot liquid asphalt throughout New York State

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience hauling over width equipment and/or oversize loads preferred
  • Must have a valid Class A CDL with Tanker and Airbrakes Endorsement; HazMat Endorsement preferred
  • Must have a good driving record
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience preferred
  • Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
  • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Regularly required to climb in and out of vehicles and/or equipment
  • Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Regularly required to stand and walk across uneven terrain
  • Frequent exposure to loud noise
  • Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles; exposure to high temperatures
  • Regularly exposed to fuel, oil, and other chemicals
  • Occasional travel with overnight stays away from home may be required
