Heavy Equipment Operator
We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to manage the operation of a 30-ton Taylor Big Red forklift. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting pipes and materials in outdoor environments, ensuring safe and efficient movement of suspended loads using chains. The role requires interpreting work orders to accurately locate and move shipments, performing routine inspections and basic maintenance on the forklift, and assisting with general labor tasks in the warehouse.
Responsibilities:
- Operate a 30-ton Taylor Big Red forklift to transport pipes and materials in outdoor environments.
- Safely move suspended loads using chains, following proper rigging techniques and safety protocols.
- Learn to read and interpret work orders to accurately locate and move shipments.
- Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance on the forklift to ensure safe operation.
- Operate the forklift both in outdoor warehouse and outdoors, maintaining awareness of surroundings and ensuring safety around other employees.
- Assist with general labor tasks, including cleaning and organizing the warehouse.
Essential Skills:
- Experience with heavy equipment and construction, including mechanical aptitude and heavy equipment operation.
- Ability to read blueprints/drawings and interpret work orders.
- Strong work ethic with a construction experience.
- Familiarity with suspended loads, rigging, and forklift maintenance.
- Mobility to hop in and out of the forklift.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience in the cement industry or with pipe handling.
- Flexibility with long hours and occasional mandatory Saturday work with notice.

Work Environment:
The work takes place in an outdoor warehouse that is non-climate controlled, often loud and dirty. The role includes working more than 10 hours of overtime a week, with occasional mandatory Saturday shifts. The environment is part of an outside manufacturer of'man holes'.

This is a Contract position based out of Summerville, SC.
Pay and Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
