The ideal candidate has deep experience in service-based businesses, ideally in advertising or marketing, and is highly skilled in QuickBooks. CPA highly preferred.

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Permanent Controller to join our Accounting and Finance team. This position offers a unique opportunity to drive change and contribute to the strategic direction of our financial operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for full P&L ownership, strategic leadership, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), financial reporting, audit readiness, process improvement, and more. This role requires a hands-on approach to controllership duties and will involve managing an accounting team, handling month and year-end closes, and implementing ERP systems.
Responsibilities:
1. Assume full ownership of profit and loss (P&L) statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company objectives.
2. Provide strategic leadership in financial decision-making, contributing to the company's overall business strategy.
3. Manage financial planning and analysis (FP&A), including budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
4. Prepare comprehensive financial reporting packages for board presentations, ensuring transparency and accountability.
5. Ensure audit readiness by establishing and maintaining robust financial controls and systems.
6. Drive process improvement initiatives to streamline financial operations and enhance efficiency.
7. Utilize knowledge of large ERP systems and QuickBooks to manage and optimize financial data management.
8. Manage and mentor the accounting team, promoting a culture of high performance and continuous learning.
9. Oversee month and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
10. Lead ERP implementation projects to enhance financial data management and reporting capabilities.
11. Comply with GAAP, state, and federal tax regulations, ensuring the company's financial operations are legally compliant.
12. Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the finance department.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Advanced degree or CPA certification is preferred.
2. A minimum of 7 years of experience in a senior finance role, such as Controller or Director of Finance.
3. Proven experience with full P&L ownership, strategic leadership, FP&A, financial reporting, and audit readiness.
4. Expert in QuickBooks, and other financial software.
5. Demonstrated experience in process improvement and process streamlining.
6. In-depth understanding of GAAP and state and federal tax regulations.
7. Proven ability to manage and lead an accounting team.
8. Hands-on experience with controllership duties, month and year-end close processes, and ERP implementation.
9. Excellent skills in preparing financial packages and board presentations.
10. Strong budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management skills.
