Job Details
The CMM / PCMM Programmer & Operator is responsible for programming and operating coordinate measuring equipment to inspect precision components. This role supports production and tooling inspections and collaborates closely with Quality, Manufacturing, and Program Management teams. The position reports through the Quality organization and plays a key role in ensuring products meet customer, regulatory, and internal quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Program and operate CMM systems using PC-DMIS (required) and/or Verisurf
Develop inspection programs using 3D CAD models and 2D drawings
Improve existing inspection programs to increase efficiency and throughput
Interpret and apply GD&T per ASME or ISO standards, including MBD requirements
Create and complete First Article Inspection Reports (AS9102)
Perform manual inspections using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, comparators, functional gages, etc.)
Conduct additional inspections as needed, including leak testing
Prepare inspection plans and balloon drawings using inspection management software
Validate parts to customer, industry, and internal specifications
Communicate inspection results internally and with external customers as needed
Support audits and work with external inspectors and suppliers
Perform CMM preventive maintenance and assist with gage calibration
Support fixture design to ensure repeatable and reliable inspections
Participate in correlation studies and Gage R&R activities
Maintain accurate inspection documentation and data entry in quality systems
Maintain a clean, organized, and FOD-free inspection environment
Safely operate overhead cranes to move parts and fixtures
Required Qualifications:
3+ years of hands-on CMM programming and inspection experience
Strong proficiency with PC-DMIS (required)
Experience inspecting tight-tolerance precision components
Ability to inspect against 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings
Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality systems
Solid understanding of algebra and coordinate geometry
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments
Team-oriented mindset with a strong work ethic
Preferred Qualifications:
Background in machining or manufacturing environments
Experience in Aerospace and/or Defense manufacturing
Familiarity with Verisurf inspection software
Experience supporting production parts or tooling inspections
Ability to review 3D models using CAD platforms such as NX, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or CATIA
