Job Description:
Provides quality care to patients of all ages as defined in the ambulatory care nursing philosophy of Essentia Health. Performs specialized tests and procedures and assists ophthalmologists in providing quality eye care for patients.Education Qualifications:
Key Responsibilities
- Patient Workup: Welcoming patients, documenting chief complaints, medical history, and medication lists.
- Diagnostic Testing: Performing tests such as OCT (optical coherence tomography), visual fields, tonometry (checking eye pressure), and corneal topography.
- Clinical Support: Assisting with minor procedures, including preparing injections, cleaning/sterilizing instruments, and maintaining exam rooms.
- Lens Evaluation: Performing contact lens fitting assessments and lensometry to determine eyeglass prescriptions.
- Patient Education: Instructing patients on eye care procedures and medication usage.
Licensure/Certification Qualifications:
- Current JCAHPO certification as a Certified Ophthalmic Technician (C.O.T.).
- CPR certified.
