We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Permanent Assistant Controller to join our dynamic Accounting + Finance team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in managing multiple accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll coordination, and fixed assets. The candidate will also be responsible for preparing and reviewing financial statements in accordance with GAAP, ensuring timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes, and developing robust financial dashboards and reporting tools. This position is a key player in the annual budgeting process and plays a critical role in designing strong internal accounting controls and procedures.
Responsibilities:
1. Oversee all accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll coordination, and fixed assets.
2. Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
3. Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes.
4. Analyze financial results, identify trends, and provide insights to executive leadership.
5. Establish standardized reporting timelines and accountability across the finance team.
6. Develop financial dashboards and reporting tools.
7. Assist in leading the annual budgeting process across all departments.
8. Monitor actual performance against budget and provide variance analysis.
9. Support pricing strategies by analyzing labor, equipment, overhead, and market conditions.
10. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax requirements and payroll taxes.
11. Manage audit processes and ensure compliance with lender reporting requirements and financial covenants.
12. Develop documentation for accounting procedures and policies.
13. Assist in managing and developing accounting staff.
14. Analyze inventory variances and implement corrective actions and process improvements.
15. Collaborate on forecasting parts and materials needs to support operational planning and budget accuracy.
16. Assist with cash flow tracking, accounts receivable monitoring, and collections support.
17. Oversee inventory accounting processes to ensure all transactions are accurately recorded and aligned with financial systems.
18. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or CMA certification preferred.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting and finance.
3. Strong knowledge of GAAP and other accounting principles and procedures.
4. Experience with financial statement preparation and review.
5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills.
6. Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
7. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
9. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
10. Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
11. Ability to manage and develop staff.
